Planned game releases for 2009
With a pretty quiet period for game releases, this post seemed like a good idea to keep people in the loop about what games there are to look forward to for the rest of the year.
There have only been a handful of great game releases so far, some of which include X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena but this is all about to pick up and the next few months are certainly something to get excited about as you will see below.
The first large release is the next game in the Guitar Hero series, Guitar Hero Metallica which is due for release in just a few days. If you are a Metallica fan, a metal fan, or just a Guitar Hero fan you will certainly want to get your hands on this one because it features some of the best songs by Metallica and by over 20 other acts.
Here’s another one to watch out for within the next few days, Terminator Salvation which is scheduled for the same day as Guitar Hero Metallica. This game is based upon the storyline of the upcoming fouth Terminator film. It’s hard to say if this will be a good one as movie games vary alot in quality.
Now, heading into the beginning of June, you can look forward to seeing some of the following:
The Sims 3, although I am not at all a fan of these games, no doubt this one will be massively popular and you can expect everything you love from the original games, aswell as a whole bundle of new features to discover.
The next game on the list is Prototype, a new type of game really but hopefully it will prove to be successful. It would be good if there was a demo released of this game because alot of questions need to be answered.
Batman Arkham Asylum, every Batman fan will be getting their hands on this game. The new Batman Arkham Asylum game looks awesome and hopefully we won’t be let down by quality. There is some slight confusion though about the release date because it was scheduled for June however, there’s news that it has been delayed to an unconfirmed date.
Yet another movie based game is Ghostbusters however this is meant to be released on the same day as Batman. There is some confusion around the release date of this one aswell because there are rumours that Sony have payed for an exclusive rights period for the PS3, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
Into July we are going to see the release of the latest Harry Potter game to co-inside with the release of the movie, however, just like the Terminator game, the quality of this game is questionable. Although I’m pretty sure the Harry Potter fans will want to get their hands on this game as soon as possible.
Now we get to some really good ones that are planned for release in the later part of the year and closer to Christmas. These include Dirt 2. Other games include Max Payne 3 and The Beatles Rock Band which is being released along side a wide array of new instruments for the game based on The Beatles designs. Other additions include Need for Speed Shift which is based on more realistic professional racing this time aswell as other games that include Bioshock 2, Bad Company 2 and finally Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.
There is definately a huge amount fo watch out for and no doubt there will be even more releases that I have said here on the run up to Christmas.
